Proud Support of our School

We are especially proud and grateful of our community and school as we strive to uphold our Vision for the Future, which is to "provide a friendly, safe learning environment; to empower all students to obtain attitudes, skills and knowledge (ASK), to be successful in an ever changing world, including the preservation of Crow values while respecting other cultures."

What We Offer

The JROTC program offers a wide variety of extracurricular activies that give Cadets enjoyable ways to develop the knowledge, values, and skills they learn in class.  One of the most popular is the Color Guard that is called upon by numerous communities for their professionalism and skills.  The Color Guard is made up of strongly motivated Cadets who have demonstrated a high standard of dress and bearing.  Many other activities will be offered, including another Color Guard of 9th and 10th graders, a Drill Team, at least one Marksmanship Team, among others.  We invite all students to walk-in to the JROTC department to ask any questions they may have and to just look around.  Come join us on the JROTC path!

                                                                                  Indian Battalion Unit Patch

The Lodge Grass High School Indian Battalion Unit Patch is also the Crow Tribal Emblem.  The pipe was traditionally offered as a first placating step in any significant petition of the Crow people.  Above it is the "Sacred Medicine Bundle."  This bundle contains sacred tobacco seeds, believed to be the original and supernatural blessing of the Crow that led them to their present home.  The "Sweat Lodge" is a place of purification for both mind and body and the perfectly symmetrical tepee represents the values of a good home and the home of the Crow.  Behind the tepee are three mountain ranges; the Wolf Mountains, the Big Horn Mountains, and the Pryor Mountains.  The rays of the sun represent 12 of the original 13 clans of the Crow.  The thirteenth, the "Greasy Mouth" clan, commonly referred to as the sun worshipers, is represented by the sun itself.  To either side is a Crow war bonnet, representing the clan chiefs on the mother's side; the other is the clan chiefs on the father's side.

The Lodge Grass Junior ROTC Program Background & Mission

The Army Junior ROTC program compliments the curriculum and overall educational programs of Lodge Grass High School.  We offer a unique opportunity for personal growth that is unmatched in other high school courses.  For a single course, JROTC is remarkably comprehensive.  To a base of American citizenship and history, we add a battery of values and skills indispensable to success in school and beyond.
We train Cadets (students) to think on their feet, to make proper decisions, to work as a member of a team, to motivate themselves and others, and to lead.  JROTC Instructors teach as much by example as by syllabus.  They serve as role models for their Cadets and as mentors who provide strong incentives to stay and school and graduate.
The JROTC program motivates Cadets to learn, not just in JROTC, but in all their classes.  It fosters a disciplined and constructive learning atmosphere.  It instills essential skills such as time management, planning and organization, responsibility, goal-setting, and teamwork.  It provides extracurricular activities that build self-confidence.  For Cadets who do choose to enter the military after graduation, it may earn them advanced promotions upon enlistment or advanced placement in college ROTC.
The mission of the JROTC program, as stated by Congress in 1916, is "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens."  Today's program seeks to train Cadets in Leadership and Motivational skills.  It also provides the positive support many students need at this critical stage in their development.
JROTC IS NOT A RECRUITMENT PROGRAM FOR THE MILITARY!  Participation in JROTC incurs no military obligation what so ever nor is it intended to apply any pressure in that direction.
